In the interest of full disclosure, Ezra does not actually say, "granola bar." He says, "bar-bar." But I am still convinced that my son is a genius.

We finally made the trip out to Glenrose to visit Aunt Francie & Uncle Eric's new ranch home. It's getting so close to being finished and it is amazing! We can't wait to go back again. Beautiful, breathtaking, relaxing, peaceful. I want to build one now. :0)

This is the view from down below. That's their house on the side of the mountain. Pictures don't do it justice. If you zoom in really close you can see Francie & Eric.

Thank you Francie & Eric for a fun afternoon. We hope to come visit you again!

I was way off on the words. Here's the updated list of words our sweet Ezra James has said this past week:

Mama, Dada, Ezra, Nanna, Pop, Mamaw, Mimi, Enno, Mo Mo, Pat (from "No Pat No! Don't sit on that!" Can anyone name that book? It's one of Ezra's favorites!) cat, dog, no, plane, car, truck, water, granola bar, milk, yogurt, cheese, shoes, ball, duck, pig, baby, bird, banana, hat, read, book, home, work, school, walk, bath, nose, ear, knee, elbow, toe, mouth, belly, booty, more, hot, cold, night.

I know, I know, it's silly that I'm posting this but I think our little guy is awesome! 48 words! It's been one full week so I'll stop writing them down now but I still think that's pretty neat. Logan discovered something with him the other night...instead asking Ezra where his nose is he pointed to his nose and asked "what's this called?" And of course Ezra knew them all. Don't know why we didn't think to ask him these questions before. Now we will!

18 Months
Well, he's actually 18 and a half months but we went to Ezra's 18th month checkup earlier this week. Ezra is one healthy boy! 28 pounds and 34 inches tall. The doctor told us the average 18 month old is 32 inches and Ezra is measuring the height of an average 2 year old. We knew he was big but it's interesting to hear those statistics. He asked us how many words Ezra says. Of course I didn't have an answer for him but it got me thinking about it all. Ezra definitely is a talker these days! I've had a list going ever since our appointment on Tuesday and here's what he's said in the past three days: Mama, Dada, Nanna, Ezra, Pop, Mamaw, Mimi, Enno, cat, dog, plane, truck, car, bird, Mo-Mo, water, granola bar, yogurt, milk, cheese, shoes, ball, duck, pig, baby, bird. 26 words. The statistic he gave us for the average 18 month old is 5-10 words. Awesome! Ezra's teacher at school told us that one of the reasons she likes Ezra so much is because he's the only one in the class that she feels that she can really talk to. That of course gave me a little laugh. We have conversations all the time. Who knew you could talk about planes and trucks so much!

Good snack. And what does your belly look like when you are full?
Calling Nanna...
Another thing we talked about quite a bit at his doctor's appointment was discipline and typical behavior of an 18 month old. And Ezra is right on track -- very stubborn, very active, and very independent. Here's what he thinks of my Happiest Toddler on the Block book....
But luckily he follows it up with telling me that that's his Mama on the cover on Runner's World this month. This has been on our counter for a few days and several times we've walked past it and Ezra's points out that it's his Mama. :0)

Cowtown Ultra and Half
Good job Logan, Jason, and Francie at Cowtown last week! Ezra spent the night at Nanna & Pop's so I got a free morning to myself to go cheer them on. I snapped these at mile 7 right behind our house. We are on the cowtown route so it's always fun to go see everyone run. Logan and Jason paced the Ultra group for FW Running Company....

Aunt Frandog ran the half....
You guys are very inspiring! Ezra & I ran 3.5 miles yesterday. Awesome weather this week!
